Scenario

My name is Conor. I am a member of the Southern Regional College, Newry. As a part of my Digital Graphics Assignment I have been asked to product three images for a Newry Tourism company that want to promote Newry. The themes that I have chosen are Entertainment, History and Seasons. The reason that I chose entertainment is because I feel that that is the main reason many tourists would want to visit Newry as they probably want to have fun and have a good time. The second topic that I have chosen is History. The reason that I have chosen history is because I feel that if a tourist is visiting a place like Newry then they should know the whole history of newry. The last topic that I have decided to produce my images on is Seasons. The main reason that I have chosen this theme is because seasons produce nice images which will therefore encourage them to come to newry for the beautiful seasonal scenery.
Images
For assignment two of my digital graphics I have been asked to produce three images using image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or SumoPaint. Each image that I have produced where based on three different themes. The themes that I have produced images on are Seasons, History and Entertainment. The Reason that I chose to produce an image on seasons is because I feel that I can produce a really nice picture based on nature. I have chosen my other two images on History and Entertainment as I feel that Entertainment and History would appeal to anyone looking to visit and tour Newry.

Tools used

To produce this image I only used a few tools. The reason that I only edited this image a tiny bit is because I feel that it already has a nice seasonal glow to it and that if I edited the photo too much I would ruin it. I have added a layers to the captured image so that I could add my scanned image to it. For my scanned image I used the quick selection tool. I selected around the area that I wanted to scan and then inverted it so I had the area I wanted to transfer to my captured image selected. I then scaled the image size of the scanned photo down to suit the size of my captured image. Making sure that the new layer was selected on my captured image I used the drag tool to drag the selected area from my scanned image to my captured image in which I have placed on the bottom right hand corner. My final image was almost complete. To finish it off I added text saying "Newry Seasons".

Tools used

To create my final image I have selected the background using the quick selection tool making sure that the canal walls, the canal and the City Hall were not selected. I then added a blur filter to the selected area which blurred out the background creating a nice effect. I added a new layer then added some text saying "Newry City Hall" so tourists would know what the building was. I went to my scanned image and scalled it down to a more suitable size and used the quick selection tool to select the logo leaving out the white background. I then created a new layer in the captured image and used the drag tool to drag the selected area from the scanned image onto the captured image.

To create this image I firstly decided to add the blur filter to the captured image. After this I then decided to add a new layer to the image. I then used the quick selection tool on my scanned image and selected around the bank text and logo. I then used the invert tool to invert the selected area so that the logo and text was selected. I then copied this and dragged it into the new layer on my scanned image. After I have done that I then added a new layer of text saying "Newry Entertainment" in which I then used the move tool to move the text directly below the logo. I think that this image has a very energetic feel to it and their are a lot of vibrant colours.

Techniques that I have used for my images

I used a digital camera to capture my captured images. I then got my scanned images of the internet and insured that the image was of high quality.

Choice of color and mood

Entertainment

For Entertainment I chose tried to make my image feel energetic and exciting. I done this by using methods such as blur and by using a lot of vibrant colours in  my image.

History

For History I tried to make the mood very clean, fresh and interesting. I done this by using the blur tool to keep them focused on the canal and the building. The color of this image is very cold and refreshing. I done this by using very natural and radiant colours.

Seasons

For Seasons I have decided to make my images happy, fresh and cool. I done this by adding animated autumn leaves and  a tree. I took my image early in the morning when it was cold and frosty out to get a nice scenery. The colours are not vibrant and they are very natural colours.

Graphics

Entertainment

This image has a very energetic and a vibrant glow to it. I am very happy with this image and feel that it looks professional.

History

For my history image I feel that I have chosen a good scene as Newry Canal and The City Hall are Newry's main historic attractions. I am happy with my outcome and feel that I have captured a massive piece of history in Newry and Mourne.

Seasons

For my seasons image I believe that the image has a nice seasonal glow to it. I think that it is very appealing and looks very professional. This image is the best image out of the three images and I am very happy with the outcome.
