New and Emerging Technology

Sony NEX 7 SLR 3D Digital Camera

I have been researching new and emerging technologies that can be used in the manipulation of digital graphics and have interestingly came across the Sony NEX-7 SLR 3D digital camera. It is an expensive peice of technology that costs from £1099.99 to buy of Tesco.com. This amazing piece of technology is the ultimate camera. It has a 24.3 megapixel lens and has the ability to capture images and transfer them into a 3D digital image using the 3d panorama exposure mode. The Sony NEX 7 SLR 3D digital camera comes with a built in lithium polymer battery. This is the best type of battery available for any digital camera as it prolongs the batteries life. This peice of technology can capture full resolution images at 10 frames per second. The camera comes in two versions.

One with a 18 millimeter lens and the other version with a 55 millimetre lens. The 55 millimetre lens is of course the better version but also an extra £100 more to purchase but is worth the extra bit of money as it will mean that the graphical image will be of better quality. The Nex 7 camera has a XGA OLED viewfinder that has more than two million dots which makes this camera perfect for taking detailed images of beautiful scenery. The camera itself has a beautiful design and has an average three inch LCD non-touch screen display for viewing and capturing images and videos. The camera supports high definition video capturing which is also a handy feature to have. Unfortunately the 24 megapixel high definition camera takes up a lot of memory as each picture is approximately eight to nine megabytes in size therefore an SD card will be required if you plan on capturing a large amount of high quality images.

Their is one particular feature of this camera that I am fond of which is that you can adjust the settings to enter sweep mode meaning that when you press the capture button the camera will automatically take ten photos allowing you to select which ones you want to keep and delete the ones that you don't need. This is great for a photographer that needs to take pictures that are in motion such as a football event. It also has anti-blur and an electronic stabalisation features. The camera comes with a pop up flash with several modes depending on the light conditions.

The flash is positioned well above the camera to avoid a red eye effect. This camera comes with a lot of features such as interchangeable lenses and external flash to add to your camera system meaning that you can boost the quality of your photos. Overall I feel that this is a very wise investment.

This high quality top of the range camera can be used in digital graphics to take high quality photos and then edit them on photoshop thanks to the 55mm camera lens and the amazing 24.3 megapixel camera. You can also store your photos and view them ig you have an SD card insterted.

Lazer TV

The lazer television is a new peice of technology that can be used in the manipulation of graphics. The lazer tv was developed by Mitsubitshi and it is currently only available in America at the minute. The cost of this product is quite expensive.

It costs approximately two thousand five hundred dollars. It may cost a lot but it is worth the money as the screen sizes are quite large. The tv is available in screen sizes of 70 inches to 92 inches. Mitsubitshi also focused a lot on the energy consumption of this television. The tv only consumes 84.6 watts of energy when in use and 0.3 watts when on standby. It has a 5 star rating for energy consumption in comparison to the average lcd tv that consumes around 500 watts of energy.

The tv has amazing graphics and the colour resolution is excellent all thanks to the new chip that converts the usual red green blue colours into six different colours. Red, green, pink, yellow, cyan and blue. This enchances the graphics by a lot. The lazer tv is excellent for the use in digital graphics. It would be excellent for presenting work thanks to the fact that the tv has amazing colour resolution and picture quality.

The tv comas in a maximum size of 92 inches therefore the images and work can be displayed on the large screen which will enchance the images and work throughout the presentation.

NEC NC900C

The NEC NC900C is the latest projector invented by NEC. This piece of technology could possible be a massive change in the world of digital graphics as it allows projection of images in 3D using the new 3D technology. I beleive that art exhibitions could be displaying their art through 3D projection. THe NEC NC900C is suitable small screen image projection but can project onto a screen of up to 9 meters in DCI colour. It projects images at an extremely high quality using the 2K DCI Compliant cinema quality.

This technology is the first Dual-Lamp DC projector with an easy lamp system that is available to buy. The Dual Lamp DC projector with easy lamp system means that the projector will not display a blank black screen. They are easily replaced and are easily transported as it is built into the lamp.

The NEC NC900C has a built in media server (an IMS) that has a capacity to stream 2TB of data meaning that the videos and large images will be highly unlikely to buffer.

The NEC NC900C has a very low maintenance cost and is very economical thanks to the two 350 watt bulbs instead of the older 1.2kw Xenon bulb.

The NECNC900C is good for digital grapics for projecting images on the screen thanks to the cinema quality images that it projects you can be ensured that the image quality will not be effected in the slightest.

Ipad

An amazing peice of technology that is available is the Ipad . The Ipad  was produced by Apple. It has a retena display and the screen has 3.1 million pixels meaning that text and images are sharp and of high quality as it displays 264 pixils per inch meaning that it actually displays one million pixels more than a high definition television so a graphical designer can view their photos in high quality.

The Ipad has an built in camera. The Ipad doesn't just focus on megapixels. They clearly state on their website that megapixels are important but they aren't all that determines the quality of an image. Image quality is determined by other things such as the cameras optics, the image sygnal sensor and image software. The camera (Isight camera) uses advanced optics so the best possible picture will be produced. The Isight camera has an f/2.4 aperture and also includes a five element lens that has been designed to capture light more efficiently and overall to produce a sharper and brighter image. the ipad's camera has a hybrid infaraed filter to keep infara red light out so as to produce a more accurate realistic image.

The Ipad comes in a 16GB, a 32GB and a 64GB version allowing plenty of space for music, videos, images, apps, etc. However in the event that someone such as a graphic designer runs out of storage or just wants to backup their images in case of the event that they break their Ipad or loose it then they can use an app called Icloud. Icloud allows you to store up to 5GB of data. Alternatively you can use back up and restore software that backs up all the settings and data on the ipad to your computer. If a graphic designer uses all theese apps then they never have to worry about loosing images, etc.

Direct access to over 270,000 apps from the app store means that their is a huge variety of apps to choose from in the feild of digital graphics. A few of my favourite apps for a graphic designer would be Penultimate, Idesign, Sketchbook Pro and Adobe Ideas 1.1. Penultimate is basically a sketch app that allows you to use a variation of pencils and of paper.

Idesign is a vector based app that allows you to use shapes and lines to produce an image. This app is suitable for designing something and would not really be suitable for drawing a realistic sketch. Sketchbook pro is a professional app that is very simular to Adobe photoshop. It allows you to use sketch and painting tools as well as adding filters and other advanced features. Adobe ideas 1.1 is an app produced by Adobe that is best used in correlation with other computer based design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator.

The Ipad can be used in digital graphics to edit images using apps such as instagram. Theese apps also allow you to upload your images which allows people to view the images and admire them. An app called Adobe photoshop touch allows you to sketch drawings, using basic features of Adobe Photoshop such as adding layers, etc. The smart thing about this app is that you can actually save the image as a .PSD file allowing you to open the image and manipulate/ edit images, etc on Adobe Photoshop.
